The catch can draws out oil and water condensation from crankcase gases that would otherwise be pulled back into the intake system. By removing these contaminants, it helps prevent oil buildup inside the intake manifold, intercooler piping, throttle body, and intake runners. The result is cleaner inlet air, improved combustion efficiency, reduced hydrocarbon emissions, and more consistent engine performance. The fully closed system also prevents unwanted oil vapours from entering the cabin. Each kit includes everything required for a complete installation.
In 2022, Radium Engineering introduced a major design improvement to their 7 fluid ounce catch can with the patented Fluid Lock® system. Traditional catch cans can allow collected fluids to be drawn back into the intake if not serviced regularly, negatively affecting engine performance. The Fluid Lock® mechanism prevents overfilling by trapping contaminants inside the reservoir until it is manually emptied, eliminating this risk entirely.
The rate of oil and moisture collection varies depending on vehicle condition, driving style, and engine configuration. PCV-side catch cans typically collect more contaminants than CCV-side cans. It is recommended to begin checking the fluid level using the integrated dipstick after 3–4 weeks of driving, then adjust inspection intervals based on your findings.
Catch cans can be emptied by unthreading and removing the lower reservoir. If space allows, an optional petcock drain kit can be installed to simplify draining without removal.

Under light throttle or cruising conditions, the PCV valve remains open, allowing fresh air to be drawn through the crankcase and into the intake manifold. During this operating mode, the PCV-side catch can collects the majority of oil vapours, while the crankcase vent catch can sees minimal activity.
Under full throttle, the PCV valve closes to prevent boost pressure from entering the crankcase. Crankcase gases are then routed toward the turbo inlet instead. During these conditions, the crankcase vent catch can becomes the primary point of oil vapour collection.
This system uses two independent catch cans, each connected to separate points within the factory PCV system. The cans do not vent to atmosphere and instead retain the original closed-loop ventilation strategy. Clean, filtered air is returned to the engine to promote negative crankcase pressure and consistent performance, while preventing oil vapours from entering the cabin.
This kit is not compatible with right-hand-drive vehicles, as installation is on the right-hand strut tower. The low-profile design extends only 4.8 inches (122 mm) from the strut tower.
