After years of refinement and evolution, two legends now stand side by side:
the TYPE-R (single), which set the standard for lightweight performance,
and the TYPE-D (dual), born from a pursuit of a balance of beauty, sound, and precision.
These two represent the next chapter for the Z33/350Z.
The Fairlady Z (Z33/350Z), introduced in 2002, was the fifth generation of the Z series and
was produced until 2008.
Powered by the VQ35DE (280 hp) in the early model, the VQ35DE REVUP (294 hp) in the mid-model, and the VQ35HR (313 hp) in the later model,
these engines offered the sharp response you'd expect from a naturally aspirated engine
, smoothly revving up to high revs. Available transmissions were a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. The direct handling without excessive reliance on electronic controls
and the throttle response that linearly synchronized with engine speeds gave the driver the feeling that their intentions were directly translated into driving performance.
Even before the advent of turbocharging and electronic control, the Z33/350Z represented the pinnacle of "pure naturally aspirated sports car perfection," laying the foundation for the evolution of subsequent Z models and truly symbolizing the golden age of pure naturally aspirated sports cars.
In 2013, RSE's US brand, TOMEI USA, announced its first exhaust for the Z33/350Z, the TYPE-R full titanium muffler. The concept was "The Art of Single," a philosophy that prioritized performance over appearance or volume .
The 80.5mm straight-through main pipe and optimized exhaust path brought out all the heartbeat of the naturally aspirated engine.
The results were clear.
With over several thousand units sold worldwide, it has become one of the most successful exhausts in the history of RSE/TOMEI USA.
After the success of the TYPE-R, many Z33/350Z owners expressed a desire for a dual-drive system with a more aggressive rear view and sound. However, RSE and TOMEI USA did not immediately respond to this request.
The reason was clear: lightness is performance.
With the technology of the time, dual-drive meant compromising on weight and efficiency.
Now, as the years have passed and titanium processing technology and layout optimization have made great advances,
the development team has taken on this concept once again.
Their goal was a dual-drive system that combined sophisticated beauty with absolutely no compromises on performance.
After years of prototyping and thorough testing,
the TYPE-D dual exhaust system is finally complete.
Its foundation is the RSE x TOMEI USA DNA of "Function over Form." While
inheriting the philosophy of the single exhaust, it elevates it to a true dual configuration that meets modern performance needs.
